Tis the season to be vegan!
At Quattro Foods we pride ourselves on being one of the UK’s leading food manufacturers, catering to the needs of our customers across the world of food. From individual restaurants to high street chains, from hospitals to schools and colleges, from the Army to the UN and from food service providers to wholesalers, we are happy and proud to be feeding the country from our busy high-tech South Coast HQ. Beavering away in Portsmouth our development chefs are working tirelessly to make Christmas a culinary highlight for everyone – including our growing number of vegan customers.
Concocting vegan alternatives to traditional Christmas favourites is a creative and rewarding challenge. Who needs a meat roast when crispy, flavoursome veggies are on the table? Mince pies? Not real mince – we promise! And as for desserts – we have gone wild without milk or eggs. There are so many plant-based replacements available, it’s mind-boggling.
The increased demand for vegan food products in recent years can be attributed to a number of factors including evidence based research that points to the health benefits of omitting meat and dairy products from our diet, as well as ethical and environmental factors. All pretty compelling arguments.
The health benefits of veganism are particularly appealing. Vegetables, fruits, pulses and grains are high in protein, full of B12, and lack preservatives and the food development team at Quattro is harnessing these facts and continuing to enhance our delicious vegan range.
Quattro Foods’ vegan range includes risottos; mac and cheese; rice pots; sauces; soups; purees; compotes and mashes. We also make a gluten-free coconut and red quinoa porridge, a vegan béchamel sauce and Asian teriyaki mealpots. All delicious additions to the Christmas table.
Quattro’s new vegan products for 2020 include:
- Vegan cheese sauce for mac
- Vegan meatballs in a rich pomodoro sauce
- Vegan blue no-cheese carbonara
- Fruit compotes
- Porridge – new varieties with oat milk, almond milk, quinoa
Harnessing the endless goodness of the beautiful vegetables available at this time of year and maximising the potential of beans, chickpeas, other pulses and lentils, our chefs have gone to town on some truly exciting vegan fare. Using the celebrated jackfruit as a meat alternative and soya based dairy alternatives, which make excellent milk substitutes, we have put together a tasty vegan range, which is growing in popularity every year.
Our customers’ favourite products include:
- Herby tomato pasta sauce
- Vegetable chilli
- Refried beans
- Thai pea edamame soup
- Spicy Mexican rice sauce
- Ratatouille
- Sweet & sour vegetable sauce
- Vegetable chow mein sauce
- Sweet potato, coconut & chilli soup

To all our vegan customers – thank you for allowing us to innovate and have a happy plant-based Christmas! If you are not vegan we invite you to cast all judgement aside and try – just try – some of our delicious meat-free and dairy-free fare. Take a dip into a new world of exceptional, healthy and ethical eating. Welcome!
