Fall into Autumn with Quattro’s range of seasonal offerings

Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness…

Autumn is here and so, as we wave a teary farewell to bbqs and Pimms, we start preparing our kitchens for the heady warmth of Autumn’s culinary delights.

Autumn officially begins on September 23rd and we food product suppliers are kicking into gear. The talented lot in the Quattro Foods kitchen take a closer look at the herbs and spices of the season and the changing seasonal needs of our customers in various sectors.

As the leaves on the trees turn paler and start to feel crispy underfoot as they fall, the vibrant foods of the summer follow suit and become more muted in tones – but not in taste.

We need warmth but nothing too sparkling or mulled quite yet. Simply tasty, delicious and well, cooked foods will do. Salads were great in August, but the oven is starting to feel neglected.

Traditionally autumnal ingredients include apple, blackberries, butternut squash, Brussels sprouts, savoy and spring green cabbage, carrots, cauliflower and celery. Herbs grown this season include chervil, chicory, coriander, fennel, garlic bulbs, lavender, marjoram, oregano, parsley, rocket, sage, sorrel, rosemary, thyme and tarragon.

With such a wealth of flavoursome ingredients to plunder, Quattro chefs have an enviable job of creating the most delicious fresh, chilled and ambient food products for our loyal customers.

As well Quattro’s ever popular soups, our customers have been singing the praises of our pies and pasta sauces – we even make a mean gluten free mac n’ cheese!

Soup really is a sign that Summer is long gone. It’s the perfect starter to a family meal and a brilliant way to slip veggies, unknowingly, into fussy little tummies.
