Friday 16th Feb 2018 marks the Year of the Dog in China, but colourful celebrations are not confined to Asia.
Chinese New Year screams colour, dragons, fire, fun and flavour, which we’re embracing fully in the food manufacturing world.
Chinese communities across the world are pulling out all the stops and bringing dragon puppets, fireworks, colour and flavour to parties, carnivals and restaurants. Chinese food has been enjoyed by discerning food-lovers across the world for generations but on this special day, food manufacturers are enjoying the opportunity to display their finest Chinese flavours.
The rich heritage of one of the most iconic cultural traditions of the world allows each one of us to identify ourselves as one of 12 animal symbols according to the year in which we were born. Bring on 2018 – the year of the dog. Proud ‘dogs’ include the one and only POTUS Donald Trump, Dame Judi Dench, Justin Bieber and both Prince William and Kate Middleton, so let’s hope Kensington Palace and The White House kitchens are preparing to honour their people with some flavoursome and vibrant Chinese food this week.
At Quattro Foods we’ve never been known to let a celebration go by without notice. So we’ve decided to bring to your attention our favourite Chinese inspired sauces and dishes.
We have created each of these for our customers who come to us, one of the UK’s leading sauce manufacturers, for bespoke sauces that they sell to their customers in turn – usually high street restaurants, food service providers or other food manufacturers.
They’re hot, they’re colourful, they’re authentic and they are bursting with flavour – perfect for a Chinese New Year celebratory feast!
In fact, they go perfectly with Chinese food items which at this time of year are truly symbolic. You are what you eat – didn’t you know?
- Noodles – happiness and longevity – let’s start with a happy new year!
- Dumplings and spring rolls – eat this combination for guaranteed wealth – Ok, if you insist….
- Tangyuan (sweet rice balls) – the perfect recipe for family togetherness
- Niangao (rice cake) – higher income or status – we’ll take either, thanks
- Tangerines and oranges – fullness and wealth – enjoy!
Our range of Chinese inspired sauces, designed to complement all of the above, includes:
- Katsu Chicken and Vegetable Curry
- Oyster Sauce
- Singapore Noodle Sauce
- Sweet & Sour Sauce
- Char Siu Sauce
- Green Curry Sauce
- Katsu Sauce
