Let the celebrations begin – it’s World Vegan Day on November 1st. A day of recognition for those amongst us who shun any and all animal products. Veganism is not just about diet, it’s an ideology. The philosophy behind veganism is that eating, wearing or manufacturing with anything that comes from an animal is strictly unethical and completely unnecessary.
“Veganism is a way of living which seeks to exclude, as far as is possible and practicable, all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose.” – The Vegan Society
As one of the UK’s leading food manufacturers we are keenly aware of the growing number of vegans amongst our customers and our talented development chefs are working flat out to ensure that the Quattro kitchens produce the most delicious plant-based fresh and ambient food products on the market.
The health benefits of eating vegan food are endless. Many leafy green vegetables and lentils offer high levels of vitamin B12 and are rich in protein. In addition, most vegan foods have no preservatives and are made of purely natural ingredients.
“At first it was an ethical decision and now it’s really about lifestyle. I love how healthy I feel since I’ve cut out meat and dairy from my diet. I’m full of energy, and I am exploring new flavours and food concepts from around the world, which I love.” Sharon, recent convert to veganism.
We’ve been producing vegetarian food products right from the start but leaving out milk, cheese and eggs offers a greater challenge. The Quattro chefs have never been known to back away from a challenge, and always striving to keep up with market changes, we have created some supremely delicious plant-based products, including:
• Herby tomato pasta sauce
• Vegetable chilli
• Refried beans
• Mild chilli sauce
• Spicy Mexican rice sauce
• Ratatouille
• Hot chilli sauce
• Sweet & sour vegetable sauce
• Vegetable chow mein sauce
• Tomato & basil soup
• Garlic puree
• Summer fruit compote
• Sweet potato, coconut & chilli soup
• Mexican bean sauce
• Autumnal minestrone
• Super greens soup
• Sweet potato mash
• Thai pea edamame soup
• Tagine & quinoa
• Hummus sauce
Our customers are increasingly requesting creative vegan products, far removed from the traditional concepts of plant based foods that conjure images of mung beans and kale. We tend to stereotype those foods (as well as their consumers) but modern vegan fare is far from bland or tasteless.
In fact the Quattro team is proud of the delicious, colourful produce, bursting with flavour, that our customers tell us they love. Serving the wholesale, retail and high street food markets, as well as the army, the NHS and school and colleges, our development teams are committed to following food trends and keeping up with changing customer needs.
