Quattro Foods marks World Obesity Day

Healthy eating is more important now than ever. Those with a high BMI are more likely to suffer ill-health and data shows that Covid-19 affects people with underlying health conditions to a far greater degree than healthier peers. Evidence points to a relationship between more serious illness from the virus and obesity. If we didn’t already know that obesity is dangerous, it has been put into clearer focus in the wake of the pandemic.

At Quattro Foods we have always focused on offering our customers healthy food products with minimal added sugar and as many natural and organic products as possible. Covid-19 has highlighted issues that were always on our radar but are now an even higher priority as our understanding of the real-world impact of obesity grows.

March 4th was World Obesity Day, established by an amazing team on a mission to increase awareness of obesity as a disease and improve understanding of its root causes.

How we can help

The organisation encourages advocacy to change the way obesity is addressed across society, and encourages people to call for change. The initiative aims to improve policies to build the right support systems for the future by creating platforms to encourage individuals to share experiences and inspire others.

We should all be consuming a healthier diet and Team Quattro is happy to be on board. We’re playing our part by offering healthy alternatives in many of our ranges of sauces, soups, dressings, compotes and ready to use food products. We have reduced calories in some of our most popular items, and our customers barely notice the difference – they taste just as good!

A primary focus for our health awareness is the fact that we serve the NHS. Nutrition goes a long way to aiding patient recovery and for some, soup is one of the only things they can eat. Quattro’s range of healthy soups for hospitals includes:

• Creamy tomato

• Minestrone

• Carrot and coriander

• Creamy chicken

• Lentil and vegetable

• Pea and ham

What better way to consume wholesome and delicious vegetables than in a hearty, steaming bowl of soup? Further healthy and delicious soups in our range include:

• Leek and potato

• Moroccan lamb

• Thai chicken

• Tomato and basil

• Greens and proteins

• Sweet potato and butternut

• Smoked haddock chowder

We even cater to those with healthy eating targets who can’t let go of their sweet tooth with a range of delicious reduced calorie compotes including mango and passion fruit and summer fruits flavours. For a healthy and hearty breakfast, Quattro’s porridges are filling, healthy and scrumptious. From nutritious breakfasts to low calorie soups and reduced sugar desserts, we’ve got you covered throughout the day.

World Obesity Day is a fantastic and innovative initiative and has the support of many food businesses. But we can’t do it alone. We need help from the supermarkets and restaurants to increase awareness of what we’re eating through helpful pricing and labelling strategies to reduce the health risks associated with high-sugar, high-salt and high-fat fast foods.

Let’s embrace a new and healthy world and make a difference together.
