Plant-based food – does it have it all?

With health at the forefront of the global conversation, Team Quattro is always on the lookout for new research and thinking about what’s good for us and what we should be eating to fight viruses, keep our energy up, stave off the dangers of obesity, optimise our mental health and improve our general wellbeing. Crazes and fads come and go but one buzzword looks set to stay. (Cheer from the vegan camp.) We know that a vegan diet offers a myriad of benefits for our body and is great for the planet but can you really get everything you need to stay healthy and strong from plant-based food?

As a leading food manufacturer and supplier, we are always on trend and on track with the changing needs of our customers. We know a growing number of you are turning to plant-based diets and we also know that you need to adapt your thinking to incorporate the nutritional changes required of everyone on this journey. So, what do you need, and can vegans get enough of it without eggs, meat, fish or dairy in their diet?

Protein. We need it for strong and healthy bones. It comes from fish, eggs and cheese. So where and how can we find the crucial protein that our vital organs are crying out for in a plant-based diet? We recommend adding a hefty amount of legumes, beans and nuts and grains to your meals and snacks. Nutritionists recommend aiming for at least 20g of protein per meal throughout the day. Let’s see what we can do.

Specialising in bespoke food development, Quattro chefs are up to the challenge. We’ve designed a healthy and flavoursome vegan range which defies the stereotype of grey and tasteless hemp and soya. Products which are free from meat or dairy can taste great and also contain protein, as we demonstrate in our nutrient-full dairy and meat-free dishes. Our chefs are skilled at excluding milk, eggs, meat and fish whilst maintaining the outstanding Quattro taste and retaining the health benefits of the fresh local ingredients we love to use.

Our rice pots, sauces, mashes, soups, risottos – and even the clever dairy-free béchamel sauce and mac and cheese – make up our extensive vegan range of meals. One customer even commissioned vegan blue cheese sauce, vegan minestrone and vegan corn chowder – and they’ve gone down a storm. We’ve also created vegan chilli, a ‘no-meatball’ sauce and a vegan Macanese style curry. Add our latest range of vegan dahls and chana masalas to your menu and you’ll be able to cater to every palate!

Our customers in high street chains and individual restaurants; in the NHS, schools and the Army, in retail and wholesale food services, love our vegan ranges, their outstanding taste and their endless health benefits. We’d never leave you short on protein. Give our vegan range a go and let us know whether it tastes as good as our traditional products and makes you feel energised and satisfied. We can’t wait to hear your feedback and, in the meantime, we’ll keep cooking.
