Team Quattro is delighted to announce that we have expanded quite substantially in the last few months, in the process creating a host of new and interesting jobs. As well as developing and creating delicious food products for the restaurant, retail and food service industries, we deliver our products around the country. The end-to-end operation requires a diverse, skilled and creative workforce.
The people of Portsmouth have always been integral to our ethos and we like to think that at least a few of you – the best of you – are involved in the running of our business. We’re not actually a social enterprise, but if our business offers a by-product which helps local people into gainful employment we feel happy that we’re doing some good in the world – particularly in our vicinity. Portsmouth is a warm and friendly city, brimming with burgeoning industry and untapped talent. They say that the heart of a business is its people, and that is 100% true at Quattro Foods.
As we expanded we became aware that our original vans were simply no longer adequate for our distributions demands. Most popular long wheel base vans have a smaller payload than we need to cope with our production volumes. In order to manage larger vehicles – 7.5T, etc – an operator’s licence is required, which we are too small to manage. Most vans only allow a payload of around 950kg. Our pallets are stacked to hold 576kg each. With a restrictive payload, this would have meant that we could only transport one pallet per van or we would have had to break down the pallets and re-build them at the second unit. This would have been costly and time consuming. So we had to find a solution.
We worked with our lease hire company to convert two Citroen vans to enable us to fit two pallets in each, with a total load of 1200kg. The acquisition of our new vans created two jobs for drivers, one for each van. And we don’t only need drivers to assist our expansion – we have further positions to fill.
We have created two new positions for distribution supervisors who manage the new unit and since January 2018, we have employed five new factory operatives and a number of staff through an agency.
We love employing local people. They understand our business and have proved to be reliable, hard-working and great team players. We have 18 remaining roles to fill over the coming year and we are actively recruiting local people – so please read about Quattro Foods on the website and contact us if you think you fit the bill. We’re really nice if we may say so ourselves. We like to chat and eat a lot of soup, but we also work hard and support each other to do the best job we can and to supply our customers with the highest quality food products. If this sounds like you, we can’t wait to hear from you, either directly or through a recruitment agency.
